• Set on the edge of Lake Maggiore, nestled within a charming town near to many amenities and good restaurants, the Hotel Ancora is an authentic and pretty resting spot in this part of Italy. The shuttered building is traditionally decorated in keeping with the town, with a terracotta tiled roof, wooden blinds and potted plants. Inside, traditional charm also reigns with modern décor and pretty views of the lake and Borromean Island from the front of the building.

Colour tones are fresh and even nautical in yellow and blue with linear patterns and tasteful artwork complementing the lovely views. In the rooms you will find complimentary fruit, mineral water, WiFi access and Sky TV. Some rooms or suites have small balconies where you can sip your morning coffee and watch the start of another day in this charming town with boats on the lake, residents going about their day and natural scenery all around. When it comes to dining, you'll find a wide choice of restaurants in the area. Should you need them, the hotel provides an internet point and two fully equipped meeting rooms. If you require parking, there is a private garage at 300m (on request), and public parking at 50m.

• Hotel Ancora is located in downtown Verbania and is surrounded by literally hundreds of shops. Reaching the hotel is easy via ferry boat, a drive from Milan or local Malpensa Airport. To say the local scenery is stunning is an understatement - the lake has a myriad of spectacular coves and inlets, old fortresses, dilapidated (and brand new) mansions to marvel at and plenty of fresh natural scenery in bright vibrant colour. Why not try a boat excursion on the lake for an alternative view, or hire a car and drive around some of the local villages trying the wines and produce in any of the local markets. The Italian and Swiss Alps are also reachable by car, and make an added facet to what will be a delightful trip.
