• The historic Hotel Wentzl is the only hotel situated on Cracow’s famous Main Market Square, in a mansion that dates back to the 16th century. The facade of the building is grand and expansive, reflecting the classic architecture of most of the surrounding buildings, and above the doorway survives an outstanding 18th century fresco of the Madonna and child.

• All of the 18 rooms of the hotel face out to the square and command charming views of the cafes, shops and the St. Mary’s church, the largest square of medieval Europe, lit up in all its glory by night. The rooms are plushly furnished either in classic style, or, the more recently renovated rooms have a much more up to date ambiance. In the older rooms heavy materials and regal colours like deep red and purple abound, and polished wood furniture compliments thick carpet. In the newer rooms, glass and metal play with texture in the bedrooms, while in the bathrooms artistic fittings and lighting create a cutting edge feel. The Hotel Wentzl has three eateries, a Mexican called Casa Susana, a Sushi bar and, most importantly, the hotel’s original restaurant which dates back to 1792 and was opened by Jan Wentzl. This gourmet establishment serves sublime versions of traditional Polish fare, and is frequented by the rich and famous of Cracow as well as the president himself.

• Being so central, it is easy to reach the most famous sights of Cracow from the Hotel Wentzl; St. Mary’s and the Cloth Hall are right in front, while Wawel castle is just 10 minutes away.
