"We did have a very enjoyable stay in Italy and the Hotel was of a high standard. However there were a number of areas that we felt very let down by that did cause frustration on the trip. The first was that the facilities supposedly on offer: ie restaurant and swimming pool, bar, room service were closed clearly due to it being the off season and the hotel not being that busy. This was not communicated to us at until until we arrived unfed at the Hotel on friday evening at 8pm. Luckily there was a restaurant nearby but it would only have taken clear communication prior to the trip to save a large amount of disappointment. We were upgraded presumably to offset this but we were very disappointed that the Hotel was still advertsided the way it would have been during the summer when this clearly wasn't the case in February. The other disappointment was the location. the hotel and gardens were beautiful however the proximity to the station was unclear. It is much more suitable a hotle for people arriving by car and travelling by car for the whole trip. It is completely possible for guests to use public transport but they must allow either for a lot of walking to reac a station or high taxi fares. I feel that this also should have been communicated on the website more clearly. The service from the staff that were present was extremely good, they clearly felt the need to make up for the lack of facilities and by chance we were able to try the hotle food as they had a wedding booking one night so we ate the same menu as the guests. The food was excellent it is only a shame we were not able to sampl the full menu and use it as a normal guest. I would absolutely recommend this hotel but only in the high season and if you are looking for a long break made up of visiting tourist sites and sunbathing by the pool. I wouldn't recommend it during the winter or if someone is going for a short break without a car."
