• Set in a quiet dreamy and ancient part of Cracow, the Hotel Copernicus is a rare gem of a hotel due to all the antique artwork and decorative detail that has been discovered here and beautifully restored. Cracow was where the famous 15th century Astrologer, for whom the hotel is named, studied and lived. Though fully up-to-date and modern in facilities and fittings, the hotel is full of vestiges of ancient times; medieval portals, precious paintings and inscriptions, making it truly unique. The latest reworking of the walls reveled polychrome details dating from about 1500, including fragments of figures of saints, preserved in a perfect condition and large excerpts of inscriptions and floral ornaments. Wooden ceilings covered with painted decoration, dating from the 14th century were also uncovered and preserved, making a valuable feature in many of the hotel areas.

• The 29 rooms of the Hotel Copernicus are richly decorated in dark velvet furnishings, antique wood furniture and beautiful marbled bathrooms. All rooms have TVs and internet access. Distinguishing features of the hotel are its renaissance restaurant, and its Piano Bar housed in a unique glass covered interior courtyard, where you can choose from one of the 200 wines housed in the hotels medieval wine cellar. In case that wasn’t enough choice, in the summer months drinks can be enjoyed on the roof terrace, with lovely vistas of Wawel castle, which is very near to the hotel, and the Old Town. For the health enthusiast, the hotel has a fitness corner, or you could always just languish in the vaulted underground swimming pool, with its atmospheric lighting and exposed brickwork.
