Hotel description

The Victory Hotel is a welcoming and exclusive hotel with a personal atmosphere in a perfect location in Gamla Stan, Stockholm´s charming Old Town. Actually, the hotel is an attraction in itself. On display throughout the hotel is a unique, private collection of maritimeantiques, passionately selected by the collector himself, the hotel´s founder and owner, Gunnar Bengtsson.

This building is also where five workers found Loheskatten, Sweden’s largest silver treasure, on an October day in 1937. The find contained 18,000 silver coins and several silver objects that had been buried here in the 18th century. The historic cellar, including the remains of one of Stockholm’s medieval defense towers, is where the restaurant Leijontornet serves innovative prize-winning Nordic cuisine that originates from traditional Swedish cooking and incorporates an organic approach. We are of course particularly proud that Leijontornet has been awarded a star in the Michelin Guide.

Centrally located in Stockholmï¿½s Old Town, The Victory Hotel is 42 km from Stockholm Arlanda Airport (about 35 minutes by car and 20 min by Arlanda Express Train), and 1 km from Stockholm Central Station. The Hotel is within walking distance to all of the cityï¿½s attractions, like The Royal Castle, Government Buildings, The City Hall, The Vasa Museum and the Skansen Open Air Museum.

"We stayed in the Victory hotel Aug. 2 -7, 2009. The staff's service overall was lackluster and our impression was that the staff was inexperienced or underpaid. One night, coming back from dinner we had to go behind the front desk to get our room key because the front desk was not manned. Getting coffee in the morning with breakfast was like pulling teeth; at all times the breakfast attendants seemed to hide behind the dining room curtains. I never heard a simple "Good Morning" from any of the staff. The room itself was barely adequate with tired furniture and little space to move around. The bath room amenities were not replenished until we complained. One would expect much more at 505 dollars per night. We did not get fresh bed linen until we complained on the 6th day of our stay. The hotel restaurant was closed throughout our stay and the bar area was made inaccessible as it was used for storage of boxes and luggage carts."
