Pelham House

Situated in the heart of historic Lewes, Pelham House was originally a 16th-century town house that has been tastefully restored to create a stylish hotel combining elegance and contemporary design. When you arrive you are greeted by a beautiful building of red brick covered in ivy with large, white Georgian windows. Inside, the hotel has a light, fresh atmosphere. Pelham House is a pleasantly sized hotel, with just 31 bedrooms. The rooms have been individually designed to ensure high-quality modern fittings and comfort while preserving many of the building's original historic features. All rooms are fitted with contemporary handmade oak furniture, and all have comfortable beds, high-speed internet connections, a bath or a luxury shower, and a range of natural toiletries. Most bedrooms overlook the pretty south-facing garden, towards the beautiful rolling hills of the South Downs. Lewes is an old county town with a history stretching back to William the Conqueror. It has several historic buildings, including Lewes Castle and the remains of Lewes Priory. The hotel is just a 2-minute walk from Lewes train station making it convenient for Brighton, London (about an hour away) and Gatwick Airport (about 30 minutes). Glyndebourne, home of the world-famous opera festival, is nearby, while the racecourses of Brighton and Plumpton are within 10 minutes drive and Goodwood about an hour away.
