Hotel description

Shanghai Inn is for sophisticated travellers who want to experience the heart of Bangkoks Chinatown in a hotel with grace, charm and a great sense of style. The establishment opened in 2006 and is the only hotel in old Chinatown that incorporates classic Chinese design with contemporary furnishings. All the interiors feature vibrant colours and Chinese art décor and objects throughout.

All the rooms are decorated in vivid rich colours to reflect the atmosphere of Shanghai. Beautifully decorated satin cushions, stained glass windows, dark wood furniture and a large shower room complete with wooden slatted flooring and four poster beds, ensure that guests feel they are a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Central Bangkok. There is also complimentary in-room wireless internet access.
Food is one of the main highlights of Chinatown... The first two floors of the hotel building offer a selection of Chinatown’s finest restaurants, including Hed Hongtae, which offers a menu dedicated to mushroom dishes, Tokhai Japanese, providing Japanese and Chinese cuisine, Je Ngor, a seafood and Thai-Chinese specialist, Nam by Pasatham, a new coffee house. Tea House is the hotel’s own dining place, providing an assortment of great tea and authentic Chinese music. Guests can also relax in the in-house Yin Yang Massage and Spa which offers authentic Chinese, Thai and Western style massage.

Location

The location, on the main road of Chinatown, is ideal for exploring most of Bangkok’s intriguing areas. Its proximity to major tourist attractions, shopping and business centers make the hotel perfect for both business and leisure travelers. The nearby Hua Lumpong MRT Station provides a direct connection to the underground network, providing quick and easy access to all of the tourist attractions, shopping and business destinations that Bangkok has to offer.

"I stayed here becuase of the proximity to the railway station. The hotel was faultless. I couldnt even find a speck of dust. In spite of the language barrier the young lady on the reception desk when I arrived was most helpful in finding a railway ticket that had not been delivered to the hotel. She organised everything and had the ticket located and delivered. She also made a full day tour for me. The meals were good and the staff very friendly. On my next visit to Bangkok I will deffinitely stay at this hotel again. Well done to the staff....Regards...Andrew Chisholm"

"Pas de spa comme annoncé, pas eu la chambre reservee ( suite) pour cause de panne de climatisation, et travaux dans l'hotel ...malgre cela, nous avons trouve un arrangement, le personnel eatait au petit soin, le quartier (china town) vibrant et colore...bref trois jours geniaux..."

"A really nice hotel, and by international standards, quite reasonably priced"

"The decor is funky and truly unusual. Overall it is not in a new, but good condition. Two draw-backs: It is fairly far to walk to public transport (though being in Chinatown was fun) and our suite was facing a large road, so it was quite loud."

"Good hotel and very reasonable with check-in times. We could have our rooms at 07:00 in the morning without extra payment (such a blessing!). The staff at the desk should have a basic course in hotel English, only the bell boys all speak good English."

      Robin R. - Taiwan - 18-Feb-08
