Riad Laaroussa

Riad Laaroussa is a truly stunning riad which has opened after two years of restoration to universal acclaim. Containing only seven suites, it features a stylish mix of Moroccan and Indonesian influences. Situated in the heart of the Medina, the riad was once home to a Moroccan minister. Restoring it was a great challenge, and the task was carried out with aplomb by a Frenchman, Fred Sola, whose grandfather was a postman in Fez at the turn of the 20th century. Measuring over 1000m², the riad is spacious and interiors are harmonious, with touches of chic design contrasted against the traditional tadelakt walls, tiled floors and cedar ceilings. Particularly impressive features include the central courtyard, main fountain and the main living room.

Each of the rooms in Riad Laaroussa has been individually designed, with traditional floors, stone walls, wooden beams and restored antique furniture. Each one is named after specific tone, and all have original craftsmanship to marvel at. Throughout the hotel you will find a number of inviting spaces in which you can relax and soak up the ambiance, including a spacious, enticing living room and a reading room. Home-cooked breakfasts and dinners are served in the charming dining room or on the roof – here you can enjoy a wide selection of typical dishes from Fez. Indeed, Moroccan cuisine is one of the hotel's specialities; here you can join daily cooking classes which reveal the secrets of a variety of dishes. Finally, unwind after a day wandering the medina with a traditional Hammam and massage.

Riad Laaroussa is located in Fez, the medieval capital of Morocco, which is a living example of high Islamic civilization. Fez has the best-preserved old city in the Arab world, the sprawling, labyrinthine medina of Fes el-Bali, which is incidentally also the world's largest car-free urban zone. Located in the heart of the old town, the riad is close to a parking lot. The airport is half an hour away by taxi.
