Hotel description

Located in the sought-after Andalusian quarter of Fez's Medina, Riad Ibn Khaldoun is an exquisite medieval guesthouse with a high rooftop dining terrace, ornate traditional decoration, and great food. The mind-boggling stucco-work, carved wood and zellij seen in all eight rooms, the three-story patio, and main lounge date from the 19th century when a major renovation was carried out on the aristocratic home, which currently offers 7 spacious rooms and 1 suite. The philosophy of the riad is to share the rich heritage of Morocco's spiritual capital and its lifestyle with guests. This is achieved with faultless treatment from staff and a special emphasis on ceremonial service at meals and teatime.

Each room is furnished with antique hand-carved beds, coffee tables and sofas, and ornaments handcrafted by Fez's famed artisans. They feature patterned zellij floors and walls, dark carved wood ceilings, and modern bathrooms. An excellent breakfast is served at low tables in the patio, or on the rooftop terrace. Traditionally-dressed staff bring you an excellent mint tea and pastries. You can also book dinner at the riad, which is beautifully presented Moroccan home-style cooking. Finally, you can avail of a hammam steam bath and massage during your stay, and book beauty treatments like exfoliation; ask staff for advice.

Location

Riad Ibn Khaldoun is located in the Andalusian quarter of the Medina, which is on higher ground and overlooks Fez's main Medina. The 25 meters from parking and just 10 minutes away from the monuments and the souks.
