All of the rooms of the Riad al Zahia face onto a quiet interior patio, except for the suites, which face onto the street. Beds are comfortable, while the bathrooms are decorated in copper and traditional smooth tadlakt plaster – a beautiful combination. For stunning 360-degree views of the ocean and the Medina, head up to the lovely rooftop terrace; this also makes a great spot to have your delicious breakfast (though in the cooler months you can choose to have breakfast inside by the cosy fireplace). And if you fancy a break from the sightseeing, why not relax with a book from the beautiful library – or have fun with a board game from the hotel's collection?

Riad al Zahia enjoys a privileged location in the coastal city of Essaouira, just three minutes' walk from the beach and the harbour, and two minutes from the restaurants, bars and main shops and streets of the Medina. The Medina is a UNESCO World Heritage site, on account of its 18th-century architecture – today you will still find many traditional arts and crafts such as carving and cabinet making. Meanwhile, the beach has become a popular destination for windsurfing and kitesurfing – as well as camel rides!
