• Located in the very heart of La Rochelle, this traditional ivy-covered manor is made of sixteenth-century stone and has been converted into an exceptionally comfortable hotel establishment. Although the Résidence de France also contains another, more modern construction--in which the hotel residence is found--, it’s difficult to tell the two buildings apart. Both have been worked upon with the utmost attention to detail and dedication to minimize the difference between ancient and modern.

• Splashed with the beauty of the interior patios and gardens of the hotel, these rooms and suites have been conceived to offer pleasant moment of wellbeing and relaxation. They also share space with the hall of the Résidence de France, which boasts lovely furnishings specially designed for the occasion by the renowned architect Alain Juvin, in constant collaboration with the creator and owner of the site, Jérôme Pujos. Alain Juvin was also responsible for the selection of wood panelling along with the floors, patinas and chandeliers. In its interiors, we also find an elegantly decorated restaurant, directed by the young yet surprising chef Gaëtan Bernard. The cuisine is in-line with the traditional dishes of the country, although at the same, it combines local specialties and successfully plays with the contrasts of traditional and modern culinary elements.
