Located on top of an imposing hill overlooking the village of Castelo de Palmela in the wine growing region of Palmela near Setúbal, 40 km from Lisbon, the hotel offers an impressive panoramic views of the area, and boasts excellent wines and superb cuisine. It is also the perfect starting place to discover the Costa Azul and the magnificent Arrábida Natural Park. Housed in a fully-restored 500 year old convent, set within the castle walls, the Pousada retains its 17th century austerity whilst offering modern comfort.

There are several festivals dedicated to these products such as the Grape Harvest Feast from the 3rd to 8th September. As well as a range of sporting activities that can be practised in the area there are a number of interesting sites, including the Louro Mountain Range, pre-historic caves in Quinta do Anjo, Bacalhoa Palace and Roman ruins at Tróia.
