• Winding past the medieval walls of Brantôme in the heart of the Perigord’s finest greenery, the river Dronne has been faithfully turning the wheel of the mill called the Moulin du Roc ever since the seventeenth century. The members of the Gardillou family are its proud owners and they have painstakingly, and lovingly restored the mill to its former glory. The Moulin du Roc has become a haven of peace both for nature lovers and lovers of gastronomy.

• Former Walnut Oil Mill, and now an deal site for a holiday, today there are 14 rooms occupying the 3 main parts of the mill. Each one has a simple, fresh-sounding name, such as noisette (hazelnut), maïs (corn), or colza (oilseed rape). They are linked by a series of footbridges, terraces and secret stairways and all delightfully blend period furniture with modern facilities. They all look out over the winding river and are therefore very quiet. The reception area is welcoming and cosy, setting the tone for the whole hotel. The lounge is a warm room, just right for a cosy chat, attractively decorated with the colours and designs of peonies and roses. The two dining-rooms are lavishly decorated and designed to ensure that nothing can spoil the pleasure of the diners. It's a true paradise for the senses. Alain uses the wealth of local and home grown produce to create his innovative dishes, many of which are based on traditional recipes. Guests can enjoy their meal in one of our two restaurants or on the riverside terrace. In addition to the covered swimming pool that is opened up in fine weather and the adjoining tennis court, there are fishing and boat trips to be had on the river Dronne. Further afield there are many outdoor activities available, such as golf, go-karting, hiking and mountain biking - just take your pick.
