Lavishly decorated with art, stylish furniture and sumptuous design objects, the exclusive Charming House iQs is one of Venice's hidden jewels. Created by architect Mauro Mazzolini and occupying a stunning Gothic palazzo just a short walk from Piazza San Marco, these luxury suites are a seamless blend of the city's past with cutting-edge interior design. The rooms overlook two typically picturesque canals, dotted with bridges and historic palaces, while on the other side of the building is a typically Venetian courtyard with portico and Gothic detailing. The overall result is one of the most private and intimate hotels possible, a place where you can feel at home and yet pampered in an environment full of charm, elegance and exquisite modernity.

Each of the rooms in the Charming House iQs has been uniquely conceived and decorated, teasing exciting new spaces out of the structure of the old palazzo. However, the exacting choice of furnishings, colour schemes and fabrics harmonises perfectly with the shades and textures of the surrounding environment, to create rooms very much of their place. Ceilings with exposed beams and classical doorways go beautifully with innovative materials and shapes – a glass and Corian bathroom, a resin or tatami floor, or a cupboard that recalls a monochromatic Mondrian. All rooms have satellite television, CD and DVD player, WiFi internet access, complimentary minibar and air-conditioning. A CD and DVD library can be found in the lounge. Suites also have their own fully furnished kitchen. The funky, innovatively designed bathrooms have a shower or twin showers, and bathrobe and slippers.

Here in the Charming House iQs, you are surrounded by water, and many of the windows overlook canals. Just the other side of the Rio di Santa Maria Formosa canal you can see the 15th-century church of the same name, while the windows of the suites allow a rare view of the nearby Palazzo Querini Stampalia. The hotel is a two-minute walk from Piazza San Marco, and a five-minute walk from the Rialto bridge. The nearest vaporetto (water bus) stop is San Zaccari.
