Colony Palms Hotel

Having just re-opened after an extensive renovation, The Colony Palms Hotel has regained its swagger as a stunning four-star boutique. One of Palm Springs' most historic properties, the Colony Palms Hotel was originally constructed in 1936 by Purple Gang mobster Al Wertheimer. Operating as The Colonial House, the hotel quickly became the town's most popular milieu. In 1951, the property was sold to Robert Howard, grandson of the owner of champion thoroughbred Sea Biscuit, and renamed it The Howard Manor. Over the next 25 years, the hotel was a haven for young Hollywood.

The property completed a 3-year, $17 million dollar renovation in the spring of 2007 to all guestrooms and public spaces. In addition to The Purple Palm, the newly refurbished hotel's amenities include an intimate Moroccan spa, and fitness center. The Spanish-style hotel's décor harkens back to 1940's glamour with an exotic slant, incorporating worldwide influences such as Uzbekistani suzanis with rich woods, French tiling and vintage Hollywood black and white photography.

Within two miles of the Palm Springs Museum and the Aerial Tramway, The Colony Palms Hotel is in the heart of downtown Palm Springs. The property is within easy walking distance to restaurants and shops and approximately a mile and a half away from the international airport.
