Hotel description

Hotel Ranga, South Iceland’s only 4-star resort, is situated on the banks of Iceland’s premiere salmon river, the East Ranga, only 96 km east of Reykjavik near the main road. The hotel provides a luxurious environment of serenity, luxury and relaxation, as well as an excellent location for viewing the spectacular Northern Lights. The picturesque surroundings offer fantastic views of the river, the active volcano Hekla to the North, a range of mountains and glaciers to the Northeast and of the Westman Islands to the South.

Although this is a relatively new hotel, it is built to resemble a traditional chalet, constructed almost entirely of heavy wooden beams. The large rooms with fully-equipped bathrooms are some of the best in the whole of Iceland. Like the rest of the hotel they are constructed almost entirely of heavy rough-hewn and polished wood. They are cleverly furnished to create a luxurious but rustic feel. Hotel facilities include a lobby complete with a welcoming 10-foot tall polar bear, a gourmet restaurant, 3 outdoor hot tubs, a bar and lounge, a meeting room and on-site massage services.

Location

This beautiful natural area has something special to offer to every traveler and interest. You can enjoy world-class salmon, trout and char fishing in clear waters nearby; play golf at one of Iceland’s best 18-hole golf courses; ride the Icelandic horse through mountains, valleys and beaches; snowmobile, ice climb or ride dog sleighs on glaciers or hike and practice white water rafting. In addition to activities, all of the amazing hotspots in South Iceland are also within close range as Hotel Ranga is situated in an area of stunning natural beauty.

"Splendide, magique, féérique, bref que du bonheur. Perdu au milieu de nul part, posé en pleine nature, cet hotel nous a donné plus que ce qu'on pouvait s'imaginer avant notre départ, de plus il est idéalement placé pour les visites alentours. Staff à la hauteur, juste ce qu'il faut. Nous sommes arrivés de nuit (19h00), pas facile une fois arrivée à Hella, aucune indiquation pour situer l'hotel Ranga. Après renseignement à Hella et environ 8 km après la ville nous avons enfin trouvé (plus facile de jour peut etre) Un seul petit hic, lorsqu'il a fallu réglé la facture, le montant était supérieur à ce qu'il restait à régler (une partie avait pourtant déjà été réglé avant notre départ)problème résolu ensuite après dicussions."
