• Hotel Villa de Pasquale is a friendly, family-run 19th century villa in a quiet location ten minutes' walk from Lipari town centre. It was entirely rebuilt by the owners and offers a nice swimming pool plus 8 elegantly furnished double rooms. Indeed, the swimming pool is beautiful and extremely inviting, with views over the town of Lipari and out towards the sea. Other nice features include the gardens and terrace areas, where breakfast is sometimes served, and an abundance of typically Mediterranean trees and shrubs.

• Inside the décor opts for simplicity and charm. Each bedroom has been uniquely styled, and all have a balcony or terrace with sea views. The cosy and welcoming bar is a great place to try a local wine, while the breakfast room and internet point are perfect for spending free time. The surrounding area has plenty of restaurants where you can eat good seafood, so you certainly won't go hungry. If you fancy a leisurely stroll, the area around the villa is very nice.

• Lipari is the largest and most populous of the Aeolian Islands of Italy and acts as a hub, connecting the rest of the islands. It is ideal for walking, trekking, diving and snorkelling. The island doesn't have its own airport, and the hotel is roughly five to ten minutes walk from the port from where you can reach other islands or mainland Italy and connecting flights from Catania, Naples, Palermo, Reggio di Calabria or Lamezia Terme airports.
