Hotel Santa Chiara

Occupying an ancient palace with over 500 years of history, the Hotel Santa Chiara offers extremely comfortable and characterful accommodation in one of Venice's quieter areas. Unusually, it is located in the one part of the historic centre that can be reached by car, facing the Grand Canal and the Piazzale Roma. This makes it the perfect stop if you are touring the region by car, and yet want to stay in the heart of Venice. Approaching via a small courtyard with a fountain, it is immediately clear that the building has lost none of its charm, and upon entering you are transported back to Venice's golden age, with sumptuous wall hangings, beautiful Venetian floors, Murano glass chandeliers and antique furniture. Since the building stands in glorious isolation from its surroundings, you have wonderful views in each direction. The staff and service are highly professional, and you will receive a warm and friendly welcome. They will be more than happy to help organise excursions and tours, and book tickets for events, shows and exhibitions.

All the rooms are decorated in grand Venetian style, with wall fabrics, carpets, parquet and Venetian-style floors, exposed beams, and sparkling chandeliers. The rooms face in four different directions, towards the Grand Canal, the Rio Nuovo side canal, gardens, or the Piazzale, while those in the annex have a view onto the private inner courtyard. All the rooms have a private bathroom, satellite television and individual air-conditioning; they are also all well soundproofed. Breakfast can be served in your room, while the bar in the private courtyard, next to the fountain, serves drinks in the evenings. In the lounge you will find a computer terminal with internet access – ideal if you want to stay in touch with family and friends. Unusually for Venice, the hotel also offers car parking.

The Hotel Santa Chiara is situated by Piazzale Roma, the only part of the historic city that can be reached by car. Within a few steps you have access to a variety of transport, including bus, taxi, waterbus, water-taxi and railway. By waterbus in particular you can quickly reach the main tourist sites in the city. Marco Polo International Airport is located about 10 km away, on the mainland.
