Surrounded by its own private garden and sporting a daring avant-garde design, the Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I is an institution in Barcelona, a hotel popular with international personalities and travellers with a taste for top notch services. Opened just before the Olympics, it rises 16 storeys at the northern end of the Diagonal in a wealthy neighborhood filled with corporate headquarters, banks, and upscale shopping. Among its more striking design features is a soaring inner atrium with glass-sided elevators. What's more, there is no other hotel in the city of Barcelona that can offer the guest the choice of 3 swimming pools and more than 25.000 m² of historical early 20th century gardens from where to relax, exercise or take a romantic walk.
The spacious guest rooms and suites contain comfortable classic furnishings, and oversize beds. Many have commanding views over Barcelona to the sea. Thoughtful touches include good lighting, adequate work space, spacious closets, and blackout curtains, plus marble bathrooms with combined bathtub-showers. Additionally, the Executive Lounge offers 4 gastronomic presentations per day starting at 7am and until 11pm, and includes free internet connection, international press and business centre services. During the summer months there is the tempting option of lunch by the full size poolside at the Pool Restaurant. There's also the chic restaurant Polo and various bars (the Lobby bar is a treat). The modern and extensive Royal Fitness & Spa located on the grounds has to be seen to be believed, with two stylish floors dedicated to health, beauty and relaxation. It features two separate spa circuits for men and women with an aroma cabin, Turkish bath, sauna, ice shower, Vichy shower and two Jacuzzis at different temperatures, ideal for the ultimate pampering. The swimming pool will be closed after 31st of August.
Location
Located in Barcelona´s main avenue, the Diagonal, it has splendid panoramic views over the city and the sea as well as an easy access to the airport and the motorways to Madrid, France and the Mediterranean coastline. The hotel also disposes of 650 m² area for the takeoff and landing of helicopters.
