Le Clair de Plume is a charming hotel in the historic village of Grignan in the Drôme department where guests can expect atmosphere, comfort and a warm welcome — perfect for romantic getaways. The village was once home to Marquise de Sévigne, an aristocrat who was famous for her letter writing, and every year hosts a festival of letter writing as well as numerous concerts and night markets. Built in the 18th century, this former canon’s residence features a lovely garden, and country chic interiors.
The personalized bedrooms with 19th century furniture exude a snug charm yet contain all modern conveniences. Some have sloping ceilings and views over the garden, and the old wash house, and some are located next to the main residence. There is also a tea room and a boutique offering local products. A hearty breakfast is served in the kitchen or on the terrace on fine days. For light refreshments, the tea room opens from midday to 6p.m. Large choices of great restaurants are within walking distance.
