Hotel description

All rooms will not be available from 29th of September to 2nd of October. When the Hotel Kapok opened in November 2006, it was considered by many to be Beijingï¿½s first boutique hotel. The rapidly transforming city is home to many traditionally luxurious hotels which feature a Chinese interpretation of Western opulence, large hotels which are impressive but often tiresome and lacking in originality. The Kapok, designed by the leading Chinese architect Pei Zhu, is a five story minimalist box clad in a semi-transparent fibreglass grid –a cool alternative that offers Chinese architectural excellence and spartan elegance. Additionally, the bamboo-treed courtyard and lobby symbolise traditional Chinese residences.

The hotel is appointed with 89 guest rooms designed in 4 different styles and is home to a bar, library, ballroom, Western grill restaurant, business centre and fitness centre. The courtyard garden is a collection of 16 individually designed mini-gardens tastefully sculpted by local masters, each with its own distinctive scents and providing striking green backdrop all year round. Three elegantly furnished VIP rooms named "Qin", "Qi", "Hua" are also provided, as well as a unique library bar which is designed to impress.

Location

The Hotel Kapok stands just to the east of the Forbidden City and is about ten minutes walk from Wangfujing Street. This convenient city centre location puts you within easy reach of Beijingï¿½s main cultural highlights and nightlife.

"La suite fashion etait tres spacieuse, design et originale avec sa salle de bains vitree , par contre nous avons eu des problemes ( toilettes bouchees 2 fois) et eau coulant d'un mur dans la salle de bains. Pour un hotel boutique design nous avons regrette qu'il n'y ait aucun espace lounge pour boire un verre ( les 4 petites tables dans les 2 patios sont difficilement utilisables par 35 degres), ni de barman digne de son nom. De meme la deco du resto est tres kitch pour un hotel boutique. Avons regrette qui si peu de personnel parle anglais notamment au restaurant. Petit dejeuner varie mais nourriture ordinaire."
