Hotel description

In this hotel past, present and future combine. The building cleverly combines the inheritance of turn-of-the century architecture with the sophistication of the most state of the art technology. The building dates back to 1917 and has a rationalist style which crowns the building with the three domes in which the suites are located. Under these are the bright main rooms, decorated without shrillness and free of fatuous luxuries. A design hotel, where the luxury is simplicity and where everything turns around the world of literature, hence its name.

The library serves as a large reading room for clients, where the readers can browse among a modern selection of great literary works, and at the same time relaxing on one of our comfortable sofas. This is another of our hotel´s valuable services which allows clients to feel at home. In the DL´s Restaurant you can taste a signature cuisine, which includes new creations from each season, made from high-quality fresh ingredients. The DL´s Lounge is a great bar to share some tapas or to take a quick snack before or after the cinema. And at the end of the day, you can enjoy a wide range of cocktails to the beat of the most current music. Another very special option which will also pleasantly surprise you is the summer terrace in the penthouse, with spectacular views of the most typical neighbourhoods of Madrid. Due to works the SPA is closed.

Location

Built in 1917, the building which houses the De Las Letras H&R hotel is located in one of the nicest areas of the city. Movies, theatres, cafés,... The Gran Vía is synonymous with a culture that is constantly developing. The Hotel provides easy access to the capital. It is only 20 minutes of the Barajas airport, 5 minutes from the Atocha train station and close to the subway stations at Sevilla (linea 2), in the Alcalá street and Gran Vía (lines 1 and 5) on the same avenue as the Hotel.

"Donnant sur une artère très fréquentée, l'hotel est très bruyant. Le service du bar est assez long. Le personnel est agréable mais pas toujours efficace (ils n'ont pas effectué une réservation demandée pour un restaurant et ne nous ont pas avertis). Il est dommage qu'ils ne prévoient pas de proposer 2 chambres côte à côte. La literie est très confortable."

"Service quality in the bar/cafe was a bit slow - but the worst thing was that it allows smoking, so was a horrible space in which to try to eat and relax, and made my clothes and hair stink. Everything else about the hotel was excellent. The free spa facilities were great (and I recommend that they keep these free rather than charging guests a small fee, as they plan to do) and the lady on the spa desk extremely nice and helpful, the staff on the main reception desk were helpful, the library and free internet service was fantastic, the room was lovely, the provision of body lotion etc good (and nice products)."

"The suites are very comfortable and clean. The suites have AC and the bedroom can be completely separated from the living room space. There are two TVs--one in the bedroom and other in the living room. Although I didn't take advantage of the dining choices, I wouold definitely recommend this hotel. It is a few blocks away from the beach, a couple of blocks away from Rue du France (a pedestrian street with lots of small restaurants), and a 15 minute walk to the old town."
