Boutique Hotel De Cortes

The only Mexico City hotel established in an old colonial building, dating back to 1620. The Hotel de Cortés is an oasis of relaxation in the middle of one of the largest cities in the world. Formerly monk's guest lodgings, the current look of the hotel is the result of a remodelling carried out by the Augustine Friars, which was finished in 1780. The hotel was born in 1943 and modern installations and renovations were carried out in 2005 to create a hotel suitable for the demands of today's travellers. The hotel's public areas are currently an authentic art gallery, with original paintings from the colonial period, 18th century sculptures and 19th century pieces.

The construction recalls Mexico's former majesty and is a typical Mexican baroque predominant in the 18th century. The building is split into two floors with four corridors around a central patio, whose garden sets off its colonial origin. One of the key characteristics of the establishment is silence, which boasts that the melodious birdssong in the courtyard is the only noise that guests will hear. The courtyard is also a dream place to enjoy a drink or have a tasty, contemporary mexican food in the restaurant which shares the premises.
The 28 rooms are those which most recall the monastic origin of the building, the monk's cells have been converted with care and attention to detail. Each room looks onto the courtyard, giving a romantic and quiet feeling.
