This traditional country estate, a former farm house known as a cortijo, sits 800 metres above sea level within the Montes de Malaga Natural Park and has views of the sea. It is also a hive of activity: taking a dip in the swimming pool or enjoying a leisurely game of tennis, handball, minigolf or bowls are some of the edifying pursuits on offer at the hotel. Kids can enjoy the play area. Less exhausting options include just relaxing in one of the fireplaced lounges or the games room, and having a three course dinner in the restaurant.

The restaurant does an excellent three-course lunch with deboned bull's tail and wild boar stew being just a couple of the favourite dishes. Finally, the outdoor swimming pool has great views of the park; also trekking trails on the hotel property are another great option for spending your time.

• Hotel Cortijo La Reina forms a part of a 150,000 m² estate in the Montes de Malaga Natural Park which is just 30 minutes drive from Malaga airport. The estate has a number of trekking paths which wind among the splendid greenery consisting of olive trees, pines, almond trees, and oak as well as numerous fruit trees bearing kiwis, grapefruit, avocados and others. Bird species include woodpecker, goldfinch, eagles and seagulls. Near to the hotel are the typical towns of Colmenar, Archidona and Casabermeja.
