• A beautifully reformed 17th-century seminary with luxurious, calm interiors and an excellent restaurant, tucked away down an atmospheric laneway in Palma's old town. The building stands next to the church of the same name and was used as a training seminary for missionary fathers. After its closure, the building fell into neglect and was acquired by its present owners who spent three years creating one of Palma's most stylish hotels. The interiors make the most of the space and light and the building's original features, such as the vaulted ceilings, are retained. The result is a blending of modern and traditional architecture that maintains the distinctive atmosphere of the convent yet manages to express the vanguard of Catalan design.

• Convent de la Missió's 14 rooms are all individually designed to fully take advantage of their unique architecture and space. They are decorated in a pure, minimalist style, with pale oak flooring and exposed beams and feature chic bathrooms. Other delights include a Zen-inspired roof terrace, a whirlpool and sauna down in the old crypt and an art gallery featuring ceramic and photo exhibitions. The restaurant Refectori features B&W photos, white tablecloths, black armchairs, more stone arches, and a couple of trees growing through the roof. This is the backdrop for some of the island's best cooking, where you can enjoy local dishes backed by an excellent wine list if you book well in advance – the restaurant is popular with locals.

• Hotel Convent de la Missió is situated just two minutes walk away from the famous L'Olivar Market and Plaza España. In this square you will find the main bus, train and metro stations connecting the city, and other locations. Other attractions such as museums and the Cathedral are just fifteen minutes on foot.
