• The revered Astor Hotel is a discreet classic on South Beach, a diminutive Art Deco jewel which attracts celebrities and a lively local crowd to the sleek lobby bar and basement-level hot spot Metro Kitchen + Bar. A 1995 renovation greatly improved on the original design of this simple three-story property, which still has the original 1936 Vitrolite wall panels. The hotel has since hosted the likes of Cameron Diaz and Madonna; and a 2002 renovation has added a more urban, industrial feel to the place with dark woods and very sleek contemporary furniture.

A garden courtyard soothed by a vertical water sculpture creates a serene and intimate environment. At night, the hotel becomes a great place to have a drink, and hosts one of the hottest nightspots on the Miami scene, the Metro Kitchen + Bar.
