Hotel description

Innovative, funky, eclectic and often spaced-out, the New York-esque baby Grand Hotel is more like an interactive art gallery than a place to sleep. The entrance to the hotel is an amazing art garden, with reflective flooring leading to the reception area complete with Mini Cooper desks. The rooms of the hotel, designed by 10 eminent international artists, are individually decorated with graffiti, artwork and off-the-wall furniture. In one room spider man crawls the monotone walls, in another a graffiti jungle covers the walls and a fake tiger complete with head sprawls over the bed. From fairies to smurfs to Japanese inspired clouds, every nook and cranny of this hotel is a testament to design, leaving no doubt as to why the hotel was featured on the Condé Nast Traveller 2008 Hot List.

Apart from the fabulous rooms, the hotel has a number of other amenities worth mentioning, for one, the restaurant ‘Meat Me’. Here you can sample Greek cuisine with a modern twist in a distinctly avant garde atmosphere; a jungle of white and green lacy paper vines and leaves hang down between the tables creating partitions and fronds from which to glimpse the trendy clientele that frequent. In the Moët & Chandon Bar, huge upholstered chocolate leather sofas, easy chairs in white leather and low tables exude an air of laid back chic, while in the exclusive spa 'Carita', the gentle sounds of music and water, the fragrance of fresh flowers and the scented candles lull you.

Location

On Athenas street, facing Kotzia Square and next to the City Hall, Classical Baby Grand Hotel is close to all that this emerging city has to offer. Gone are the days when Athens was a drab and smoggy stopover; the newly restored 19th century Athens Market and the city’s lively old quarter at Monastiraki are a must see. Eleftherios Venizelos airport is 40km from the hotel, while trolley, metro, bus and train stops are just around the corner.

"The Staff are great and super helpful and friendly. The Location is great because you can walk down to the Flee Market and to the Acropolis, while passing the Meat, Fish, and fresh Produce Market, The Heart of Athens."
