Originally built in 1898 and recently refurbished, the building is a magnificently successful fusion of old and new. Period features such as high ceilings, stucco decorations and cast-iron balustrades sit happily alongside rich walnut floors, natural materials and cool, minimal furniture. Even corridors are decorated with wonderful Modernist sculptures, cleverly integrated into the walls. The atmosphere is one of sophistication, originality, warmth and even a hint of romance. You certainly won’t find it hard to relax and unwind in your room after a day exploring the sights of Malmö - almost all of which are within easy walking distance.

• The hotel’s rooms are cosy but in no way small, and are designed with your comfort in mind. Walnut abounds in the furniture and floors, while rich fabrics convey an impression of luxury. All rooms have Wi-Fi internet access. You can also take advantage of a traditional sauna, and an exercise room. There is a complimentary buffet of hot and cold dishes in the evenings. You may be relieved to hear that, in spite of the hotel’s name, there is also a bar.

• The Hotel Temperance is located in the city centre, and allows easy access to many local shops and sights, including Malmöhus Castle, Malmö Theatre, the award-winning Turning Torso skyscraper and the town square. There are also numerous restaurants and bars catering for a variety of tastes within walking distance. Sturup Airport is 30 km away, while Copenhagen Airport is 25 km away – public transport is available to both.
