Adamar Hotel

Located on a corner in the Sultanahmet, or old city, area of Istanbul, the Adamar Hotel is an eclectic postmodern building reflecting a number of influences in its interior. Entering the art deco front door you are confronted with an interior decorated by the genius Spanish designer Pepe Rubio; berry red velvet carpets and baroque antique style furniture also in deep vermilion hues with gold detail contrast with ultra modern light fittings and welcome desk, lending a distinctly post-modern feel. The marble spiral staircases seems to wind up endlessly, and with a different colour carpet on each floor it makes a striking scene as you peer into the stairwell; purple in blue in green in yellow, like a many-coloured ammonite.

The 25 rooms of this hotel are decorated according to a particular colour, and all decorated to a high standard in both design and materials. Comfortable beds with heavy quilted bedspreads in grass green, smoky purple, lemon yellow, deepest navy or brightest orange are complimented by walls and bathroom tiles dripping in matching colour and furniture in blonde wood, lending a clean Scandinavian feel. Out of most of the windows of the hotel, and most of all from the roof terrace, is a spectacular panoramic view of the city so you can gaze at the Blue Mosque while enjoying a meal al fresco.

Perfectly located in Sultanahmet near to all the points of interest of Istanbul, the Adamar Hotel is the perfect place from which to explore the city by foot. Public transport is also easily accessible should you wish to go further afield, and Ataturk international airport is 20km by car.
